Time to take a break and get outta Dodge...Windy City - here we come!!! BFF *Heidi* and I are off to Chicago for the day on Saturday for some good food and good shopping! Hoping to stumble upon some new shops for either supplies.... or shoes!

Personalized Gift Guide

I just ran across these handmade options on Etsy - just in time for the gift-giving season! Check out the side bar for the direct link. I just love personalized items, especially monograms...I guess it brings me back to my 80's Preppy days of monogrammed sweaters, turtlenecks and those cute little purses with the button-on covers (darn - what is that name of those purses)! Guess I'll have to go shopping for one just to find out....double darn!

Taking the plunge with the Pledge

Well, I did it! I took the Handmade Pledge and have committed to either making or purchasing handmade gifts for this holiday season. I'm actually excited, and even felt a wave of relief wash over me upon the final click. However, since I do LOVE LOVE LOVE to shop (did I say LOVE?), I'm a bit apprehensive about going cold turkey! I take comfort in the thought that I will of course need to shop for supplies!

I've been busy this weekend with my nose in my laptop, but it's all good....feels like I'm cramming for an Etsy-exam (the ESATs perhaps)? So much to learn...so little time.....
While learning the lastest tips and tricks, I noticed that 3 fellow Etsians had added me to their favorites and I AM THRILLED - it's a virtual 'At a boy' and it feels warm and fuzzy.
Also jointed the EtsyMoms group...can't wait to connect with other creative and crazy moms - would love to connect with someone local - let me know if you are a West Michigan Etsian so we can hook-up!
Now I've got some vintage items to photograph and upload...you can't have too many rusted canisters or buckets, now can you? I didn't think so.

Welcome to my new & improved (& hopefully more viewed) blog!! If I had to claim a passion, it would be shopping. And not your typical birthday, Christmas , Hanukkah shopping - I'm talking down & dirty-75% off-flea market-garage sale-love it-did you see it?-gotta have it-can't believe I found it-shopping!!!

This is the kind of shopping that rocks you to the core, makes you believe in Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny...and when the gas tank is empty and my little piggies are *screaming*, I try to find some time to actually *do* something with all of my new treasures. I will be featuring items from my Etsy site and other favorite sites for your viewing pleasure.

Whether I'm shopping for a client (think in-law's anniversary gift or trimmings and trappings for a wine-tasting party) or furniture and accessories (faves include Blue Door Antiques, Flat River Cottage, TJ Maxx and Goodwill), there is nothing else I would rather be doing and nowhere else I'd rather be. It's like a runner's high - except I'm wearing cute shoes!

I'll blog about what I like for the seasons in home decor and gift-giving and where to get it for the best price/selection/value...along with pitching my own items, as well.

Now get out there and get shopping...and don't forget to have fun - it's all about having fun!
