Quote of the Day

To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.
- Anatole France

Love to be reminded that dreaming is necessary - especially when I'm in a dreaming phase!

Coming soon: "before pictures" of the new Marketplace/Shoppe/Barn (whatever I end up calling it!)

Enjoy the long weekend and Happy Hunting!

Cottage Style

OK, I'll play along! My contribution to the Beach Party @ The Shabby Chic Cottage is my BEACH sign...the authentic barnwood is rustic and warm and the blue really POPS!

This sign posted on my Etsy site and is on sale for $11. If I close my eyes, I can almost hear the sounds of the surf...

Before & After

This small desk area in my farmhouse kitchen was well-used and well-loved, but also well-cluttered. After a quick clean-up, I saw I had good bones to work with....

Voila! A little black & white print (from a shower curtain, no less!) spruces up the memo board as well as a matching curtain to hide the cord clutter and shredder. A quick pick-me-up on a Saturday afternoon...perfect.

Quote of the Day

What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?

This is one of my favorite motivates me and keeps me on track! That and a heavy dose of meds! *wink*wink*

C.S. Lewis said that "Failures are finger posts on the road to achievement."

So know that if you run into a dead-end, it's just a hop*skip*jump to the next road!

Enjoy the path you are on, take the good with the bad, the success with the failure but never, EVER, stop getting back up.

School's out for Summer!

Well, for my kids anyway, but not for me! Yep, went back to school after a 19 year absence. With homework taking precedence over blogging, I hope you will forgive my absence from you!

Remembering a favorite quote:

"We are the hurdles we leap to be ourselves." - Michael McClure

Hope I can stay out of my own way for awhile!

New Opportunity

Have you ever had an idea which keeps rolling around in your head or
popping up in your dreams, each time seemingly more viable than the
next? Each time you dare to dream, the circumstances seem more
favorable and the stars are more aligned. Fate? Maybe. Destiny?
My latest recurring dream/fantasy/nightmare is to open a store full of
my stuff. All kinds of stuff. The stuff I hunt for and love. This
idea has been kicking around for a while now....probably since
co-writing the cookbook (another post, another time).
Each time I move, seems like either my house, garage or out-building
is the perfect venue to set up shop....only there is always something
holding me back.
This time I may have found the trifecta of location, stuff and destiny.

OK Michelle and Carol...this one's for both of you! Sorry for the delay, but the broken web-links had me at "error"!

Here are some links to Etsy - a great site for handmade goods! The link for my Etsy store is below [], but here are some great options for those beautiful personalized circle necklaces I blogged about a couple of months ago...ENJOY! With so many varied metal finishes and fonts, I DARE you to DECIDE on just ONE!

Obama Mama

I am still in shock. What a thrill it was to watch with millions of
Americans, as this new president took the oath of office... and even
more thrilling to get a text from my 15-year-old daughter not 2
minutes later, proclaiming a simple, yet powerful "OBAMA!"
This feeling of renewal and call-to-action speaks to me and I am
listening. My desire to do-it-all is ALIVE and WELL!! Couple that
with the promise of the new year and the horomones of a 40-year-old
and I can't help but succeed.
